The following links all provide useful information and advice on fundraising. There is a UK bias and I have categorised the links, as well as putting a put a brief description of why I think they are worth checking out.
If you have sites that you would recommend or if any of the links are broken then please e-mail.
Latest Fundraising News
Third Sector - latest news and stories from across the UK Non-Profit World. Includes a number of feeds.
Professional Fundraising - in-depth fundraising news and insight, as well as up-to-date UK Fundraising news.
Chronicle of Philanthropy - U.S. based Non-Profit newspaper with up to date news feeds, feature articles and lots of other resources. Especially good for Major Donor news. Don't be put off by the extremely busy home page.
Alltop - new feed site with feeds from over 100 nonprofit sites and blogs. A bit overwhelming, but very comprehensive. U.S. based.
Fundraising Success Magazine - a lot of the content is subscription only (though subscription is free), but they do provide some great non-subscriber articles and their e-newsletter is very good.
Independent Sites with useful Fundraising Resources
Showcase of Fundraising Innovation and Inspiration (SOFII) - quite simply the best on-line resource for fundraisers. It is packed with insight, case studies and practical examples of great fundraising. I love this site! Registration is required.
UK Fundraising - this site has been around for a number of years and howard Lake who runs it is a well known commentator and speaker about on-line comms and fundraising. The site is updated with the latest news, has forums for discussion, interesting blogs and a whole host of useful content.
The Resource Alliance - charity who's mission is to build fundraising capacity around the world. A wealth of resources for fundraisers. I particularly like the "Ask the Guru" section.
Social Edge - a useful site for Social Entrepeneurs, some good blogs, but no rss feed!
Agency & Consultancy Sites with useful Fundraising Resources
The following sites are all businesses in their own right and whilst they have a number of useful resources, their inclusion here shouldn't be seen as a recommendation of their professional services.
Mal Warwick - Mal is one of the best known fundraising direct marketers and speakers. His monthly newsletter and website are both excellent and worth checking out.
Tom Ahern - if you're ever responsible for writing a fundraising newsletter then Tom is the man for you and he frely shares some of his insight and tips for success on his site.
Tony Poderis - a large library of articles, free resources and handouts. They range from tips for beginners to help for the seasoned professional.
The Management Centre - the knowledge base has a number of tips and downloads on fundraising, innovation and leadership. Much of these are based on the books of Bernard Ross and Claire Segal and are a good resource.
Benevon - some useful resources that promote it's own 'mission-based system for raising sustainable funding'.
nfpSynergy - have a collection of free research reports, as well as news on their latest work.
Wild Woman Fundraising -good collection of articles and resources about various aspects of fundraising. Wild Woman also has an interesting looking book out.
Fundraising Associations & Organisations
Institute of Fundraising - a much improved site in recent times and lots of good content, including advice on best practice and Fundraising Codes of Conducts.
Practical Fundraising Association - an alternative to the IoF, with some low cost courses and a recently launched, free "Good Fundraising code"
Association of Fundraising Professionals - the U.S. equivalent of the IoF. Site has fundraising news, guides on ethics, fundraising publications and training.
Charity Comparison Sites & Regulation
Intelligent Giving - site that reviews, analyses and comments on charities annual reports and accounts. They also used to have a controversial blog, but this seems to have gone quiet in the last few months.
The Charity Commission - a great site for researching charities. Annual accounts and reports are uploaded on the site and information is presented in an easy to understand format.
Guidestar - another charity review site. Quite comprehensive and charities can add their own information as well. However, I find the the Charity Commission site better. You can find the U.S. version here.
Fundraising Standards Board - supposed regulator of fundraising practice in the UK. Have a more public facing site here.
Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) - membership organisation who promote and regulate face to face fundraising in the UK.
Miscellaneous
Look to the Stars - a site that covers celebrities involvement with charities. Surprisingly interesting!
CharityJob - the UK's largest fundraising recruitment site.
Survey Monkey - free and easy to use site if you ever need to a survey.
